Regional Forums
Forums explore important, current community management industry issues on the local and state level and are accompanied by either a breakfast or lunch. These events include time to mingle with peers and service providers, explore the latest products and services, and hear expert speakers on topics of interest to community managers today.

Ethical Decision Making and Conflicts of Interest
In our industry, which still struggles to gain public recognition and respect, not all press is good press. If the headlines feature a community manager involved in credit card fraud, embezzlement, a controversial lawsuit or any other unfavorable scenario, all of us feel the backlash. One professional’s wrongdoing can be an entire industry’s burden. How do you want your industry to be perceived?
CACM’s Spring Forums will address the complicated cases of ethical dilemmas and conflicts of interest in the community management industry. Panelists will participate in candid conversations about their own experiences with precarious and uncomfortable situations, offering you the opportunity to learn how to protect yourself if you’re ever in a similar position.
In addition to the real-life examples from our panelists, these Forums will address:
- How our industry is being perceived and what’s driving that viewpoint
- Our collective obligation to protect the integrity of the industry, as well as demonstrate personal integrity
- New strategies to manage, reduce or eliminate conflicts of interest
- Reasons why your organization should implement a whistleblower policy
- Why true leadership involves the courage to confront ethical challenges, and sometimes file a complaint with CACM
