August/September 2011 Program:
Enhance Your Professional Presence
CACM’s debut round of Professional Development Seminars came to Northern California (Concord) on August 30, 2011, and Southern California (Costa Mesa) on September 1, 2011.
This seminar was directed at helping attendees manage all aspects of the way they communicate with others – visually, verbally and on paper. Attendees gathered processes, templates and tools to implement in their everyday communications, all of which were geared toward increasing their level of credibility and professionalism with board members and homeowners. Specific topics included professional business writing, facilitation skills and tailoring communications to different generational and socio-economic groups; plus, attendees also learned tips to dress for success, stay organized and maintain personal social media accounts.
Attendees at these debut programs share what they liked best:

“Both speakers presented the information well and kept the audience engaged. I walked away learning how to communicate better and efficiently with my boards, community members and my team members!”

October 2011 Program:
Tactics for Facilitating Better Board Meetings
CACM’s second round of Professional Development Seminars came to Northern California (Burlingame) on October 18, 2011, and Southern California (Pomona) on October 20, 2011.
This seminar aimed to give attendees new facilitation skills to diplomatically improve their boards of directors. The material focused on how to ensure board members stay on task and stick to time-frames; ways to deal with challenging behaviors, side talkers, negative voices and interruptions; and how to handle tricky topics, including inappropriate or illegal board decisions.
Attendees also came away with tips on how to put together a board training session and encourage brainstorming among members.

Here’s what a few attendees liked best:
“The [seminar] material was presented in a way that could be immediately applied. The handout was relevant and not full of information you would never use.”
