FACILITIES MANAGEMENT CONFERENCES

When dealing with contractors and service providers, managers need to have knowledge of many maintenance components in the community association. CACM’s Facilities Management Conferences aim to demystify the maintenance process and provide insight into contractor licensing and insurance requirements and offer instruction on a variety of safety and building maintenance issues.

Offered on a semi-annual basis, the Northern and Southern California Facilities Management Conferences are tailored to the individualized needs of the conference region. During the half-day conference, you will hear experts speak on a variety of topics chosen to match the maintenance requirements of the season.

Community Value:
Conserve Energy and Funds Through Smart Practices

Southern California - October 12

Northern California - October 14

It's a win-win situation when community association efforts work to conserve both energy and the almighty dollar. Implementing ideas to cut costs especially is an important and valuable contribution a community manager can bring to his or her associations.

Be prepared and learn to help your boards make informed decisions about energy conservation practices and large maintenance investments that will ultimately prove cost-effective.

Evaluate utility cost-saving opportunities by:
  • Knowing why a utility audit is essential
  • Reviewing California's Building Engery Efficiency Standard (Title 24, Part 6) and cool roof technologies
  • Understanding solar alternatives to air and water heating, pool heating and electricity, in additions to current tax credits and incentives
  • Discussing alternative funding scenarios with a reserve expert

Also, determine how alternative materials in roofing, siding, fencing and plumbing stack up against traditional materials when it comes to cost-savings, ROI, longevity and effect on homeowner value.

CCAMs who attend a full Facilities Management Conference program earn 4 classroom CEUs.

Spring 2010 Program
Gear Up for Summer!
Make Seasonal Site Inspections and Walk-Throughs a Breeze

This year’s spring program was held May 11 in Southern California and May 13 in Northern California. A total of 145 attendees gathered down south and 112 up north to hear from expert speakers eager to help them learn how to make their walk-throughs more effective.

Attendees also gained inspection tips and  in-depth maintenance information on roofs, decks, asphalt and pools from the expert speakers. They examined how planning major work and/or regular maintenance ties in to an association’s reserves and learned about crime prevention through environmental design. A syllabus, complete with checklists, tips and guidelines, was provided to all attendees as well.

Here’s what a few spring 2010 attendees had to say:

“Speakers were phenomenal; information was concise and right on topic.”
